Ok so this one is part education, part housework – sneaky!

The activity: Clear the Clutter

If their bedroom (or any room) happens to be a tip, instead of just tidying it all away, make it into a race creating piles of ‘needs’ (jumpers, pillows, socks) and ‘wants’ (the 8th toy car, the light-up trainers). This is a great way to introduce the basic concept of needs and wants, which will be useful in future conversations about things they want to buy.

Take it further:

If all goes well, and you’ve got your two piles, you could then discuss whether they still want any of the ‘wants’, or whether they’d like to sell them on sites like eBay and Facebook marketplace. This can then turn into a great lesson about the value of things and earning.
