Rooster Card Start Guide

Woohoo your Rooster Card has arrived! ?

But what next? Here is our guide to getting started to help you on your way.

 

Step 1: Activate your card

First things first, the parent has to activate the card from their RoosterMoney app.

If they have already topped up their Parent Account, they can do this with just two taps. First, tap the ‘Activate card’ button under the child on the dashboard. Then, tap through the next screen to move money and the card will be active!

Any problems or questions, they can contact us using the chat bubble on the dashboard.

 

Step 2: Memorise the PIN

You can view the PIN from the parent login and the child login.

From the parent login:
From the dashboard, tap ‘Manage Card’ under the child, then tap view PIN.
Enter the password for your RoosterMoney account and the PIN will show on the screen.

From the child login:
From the dashboard, tap the yellow card icon on the left side of the screen, then tap view PIN.
Enter the password for your RoosterMoney account and the PIN will show on the screen.

Take some time to learn the PIN by heart, but remember, you can view the PIN anytime by following these steps again.
Never write your PIN down or save it in your phone.

 

Step 3: Make the first purchase

Most payment cards need the card PIN to used the first time you pay with them. This is a security feature and stops anyone from being able to steal your card from the post and spend with it.

This is the case with the Rooster Card too. The first purchase cannot be online or contactless. You will need to insert your card in to a card machine or ATM and enter the PIN.

 

Step 4: Understand the Rooster Card’s dynamic CVV

CVV stands for Card Verification Value and it is a 3 digit code, usually printed on the back of your card. You have to enter this number when you shop online to prove that you have the card and to prevent fraud.

A dynamic CVV is a new version of this code that is different every time you use it and you won’t find it printed on your card. This stops anyone from spending your money by stealing your card details, as they won’t have the CVV.

When you want to buy something online you will get your code from the RoosterMoney app. It will work for 15 minutes.

You can get a dynamic from the parent login and the child login.

From the parent login:
From the dashboard, tap ‘Manage Card’ under the child, then tap Get CVV.
Enter the password for your RoosterMoney account and the CVV will show on the screen.

From the child login:
From the dashboard, tap the yellow card icon on the left side of the screen, then tap Get CVV.
Enter the password for your RoosterMoney account and the CVV will show on the screen.

 

Step 5: Know what to do when you can’t find your card

Don’t worry, it happens to everyone. Sometimes you aren’t quite sure where your card is. The important thing is that you know what to do when this happens.

As soon as you realise you can’t find the card, you can quickly freeze it straight from the app. Once frozen the card cannot be used to spend until you unfreeze it, so your money is safe.

You can freeze the card from the parent login and the child login.

From the parent login:
From the dashboard, tap ‘Manage Card’ under the child, then tap Freeze Card.

From the child login:
From the dashboard, tap the yellow card icon on the left side of the screen, then tap Freeze Card.

When you have found the card you can unfreeze the card from the same screen, and it will immediately be ready to use.
