Turn them into super savers

Our data wizards at NatWest Rooster Money have been digging into Rooster Card kids’ saving habits, to see if they’ve been learning to save during the first term of the 2025 school year.

During this time, kids interacted with a whopping 82,657 savings pots, aiming to stash away their hard earned cash to spend on a whole host of “things” (32 pots had that name, simple yet effective). Some of our favourites which ranged from shopping trips, luxury cars, and even “flowers for mummy” – yep, we had a tear in our eye too 🥹.

What were these future financiers saving up for the most?

In addition to all the presents for parents, goals of becoming millionaires and billionaires, and electronic goodies, there were clear winners of what kids are saving up most of their money for.

How do I set up a savings pot for my child?

Any child or parent on Rooster Money can set up savings pots – and we know that for kids to get involved in anything, it needs to be fun. That’s why we recently made huge changes to savings pots – making them easier to use and make their own.

From setting a goal target to watch their progress, choosing a pot colour and their own photo to really make it their own, to flipping their pots between their photo and goal amount for that little bit of motivation, there’s plenty to get your kids on the path to becoming super savers. Open your NatWest Rooster Money app
From your child’s dashboard, tap “+ Add Pot”
Select savings pot and follow the instructions, such as adding the name, amount, and choose a picture for their goal.
