How to use the dynamic CVV

To protect your card details, your Rooster Card has a dynamic CVV.

CVV stands for Card Verification Value and it is a 3 digit code, usually printed on the back of your card. You have to enter this number when you shop online to prove that you have the card and to prevent fraud.

A dynamic CVV is a new version of this code that is different every time you use it and you won’t find it printed on your card. This stops anyone from spending your money by stealing your card details, as they won’t have the CVV.

When you want to buy something online you will get your code from the RoosterMoney app. It will work for 15 minutes or until the CVV has been used – whichever comes first! We suggest that you make sure you’re ready to check out when you get your CVV. If it takes you longer than 15 minutes to check out, you will need to get a new CVV from the app.

Please note: you will need to get a new CVV for each online purchase. For example: if you purchase something on Amazon and then you purchase something else on eBay, you will need another CVV for the eBay purchase. However, once you’ve added your Rooster Card to a website for a subscription, your details will be saved for any recurring subscription payments. Some websites may also save your card details for future purchases, so a new CVV might not always be needed.

Here’s how to get your dynamic CVV:

  • Go to your dashboard.
  • Tap the card icon.
  • Tap Get CVV.
  • Enter your RoosterMoney password.
  • The CVV for the card will be on the screen. The blue button next to the number will copy the number so you can paste it straight in.
  • Underneath the number a countdown clock shows the amount of time that this number will work for.
  • Once you’ve made a note of this, tap Done.
