Ready for their next step?

If your child is getting better at managing their money, are a super saver, and spending sensibly, then a teen bank account could be the next step to more financial independence.

The readiness checklist

Take a look at Adapt

Adapt is a slightly more grown-up account, giving kids that extra bit of responsibility to manage their money independently. It’s a current account with a debit card and mobile app, with some additional freedoms to help build good money habits.

With an Adapt account, kids can:

  • Take full control of their money with their own account and card, giving them total independence without parental logins or oversight
  • Receive money directly into their account from friends, family, or their first job
  • Set up their own direct debits or standing orders for regular payments, like a gym membership, phone bill, or streaming subscriptions
  • Build their money skills safely with no overdraft, so no chance of overspending
  • Earn monthly interest on their balances
  • Use Apple Pay or Google Pay™ for an easy and secure way to pay

The account is available to 11-17 year old who are UK residents.  11-15s must apply with a parent or guardian who has a NatWest current account. App eligibility criteria apply. Interest is calculated daily and paid monthly. Called Royal Bank of Scotland Revolve in Scotland and Ulster Bank Adapt in Northern Ireland. Standing order feature only available to 16+ year olds. Apple Pay and Google Pay™ available for ages 13+ on selected devices. Retailer limits may apply.
